Clos-Sus-L’Abbaye

Laurent Blondel

Route de la Versoix 19

CH–1185 Mont‑sur‑Rolle

The history of the Estate began in 1931 with John Blondel. In 1953, he obtained authorization to include the mention “Sus l’Abbaye” on his labels, the cadastral name of the vineyard located between the family home and Mont Abbey. It was on this occasion that he created the emblematic label that still adorns our Chasselas bottles today.
In 1971, Jean-Jacques Blondel took over the Estate and gave it new momentum. He restored the family home, modernized the cellar and press, and developed bottling operations.
Then, in 1998, Laurent Blondel continued the family venture. He developed a space for bottle storage and group reception. He also enriched the Estate’s range by planting several red grape varieties.
Today, the Estate spans 3 hectares, divided into six plots. Chasselas, the region’s emblematic grape variety, represents 90% of the plantings, alongside Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Gamay, Gamaret, and Garanoir.
For three generations, the Blondel family has cultivated its own vines and carried out all the work on the Estate. The harvests are always done by hand, with the same dedication to preserving grape quality and crafting wines true to their terroir.
A family history, expertise passed down from generation to generation, and a deep attachment to our vines: such is the soul of the Estate.
